Posted December 14, 2017 06:21:00In 2016, the state of Victoria officially announced that it would be hosting the 2017 Victoria Cinemas Cinema Grade competition in 2020.
The Victorian State Council has been working with the producers of the competition to make sure they can get their production up and running as soon as possible.
“We have been working closely with the Victorians, the film industry, the producers, the exhibitors, the local community and we’ve had an incredible response to the event,” Victoria Cinema Group Managing Director John O’Connor said.
“They’ve said we’re on the same page.
We are a very happy country and we are excited to bring this event to Melbourne.”
This year, the State Council is looking to the cinemas of the city to host the festival.
The event will feature over 50 local and national theatre companies from the Melbourne area and the Commonwealth.
“I think we’ve got a really strong local audience in the city, which I think will be an excellent opportunity to showcase some of our film in the area,” Mr O’Connor said.
Victoria Cinemas Group will also host screenings of the film ‘Dangerous Liaisons’ and the movie ‘The Secret’, which are currently being released in cinemas.
The Victoria Cinema Festival is expected to attract over 400 people to Melbourne’s CBD over the weekend.
