The Stanley Cup playoffs have taken their toll on the NHL’s marketing and sales departments.
The league is no longer able to play its games at any venue it chooses.
And it may be too late to stop this trend.
According to a new report from the Canadian Media Research Group, the NHL has lost about $9 million a year in revenue since 2013.
That’s nearly half of its total revenue for the year.
In a bid to help ease the pain, the league has launched a campaign that shows viewers how to access their favorite games from the couch, and that’s where the NHLPA comes in.
The NHLPA launched its own video campaign in the fall to try and convince viewers to watch the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
In addition to offering a way to watch NHL games, it also features a host of NHL players and teams, including Sidney Crosby and Nicklas Backstrom.
The campaign is still in its infancy, but it’s already making a splash.
A recent online survey found that the NHL players’ campaign has been viewed nearly 5 million times.
And with the playoffs approaching, the League hopes to capitalize on the campaign.
“This year we are launching a new and exciting campaign featuring the NHL stars, including Nicklas and Sidney Crosby,” the league said in a statement.
“This campaign will be hosted on our official website, where fans can watch it and share their thoughts.”
The NHL will also be bringing some of its best players to the ice, with players like Alexander Semin and Matt Cullen, who will be playing in their 100th Stanley Cup Playoff game.
