I am not a Shawano film buff.
I am a film fan, but I am never one to go to a movie theatres or see a movie with a screen full of Shawano.
But I can see how it might be helpful to know a bit about the genre.
Shawano is a Japanese film, a genre of Japanese cinema known for its strong female protagonists and romantic comedies.
Its cinema is so strong that it is not only considered a genre, but also an art form, with an entire art world dedicated to it.
There are a lot of great films that showcase Shawano, and I’ve done my best to list them.
Shawano movies are a huge genre, and there are a whole lot of them.
The genre is very well represented in Australia, and you can find them at any cinema, whether you are into film or not.
In fact, there are so many Shawano movies out there, you could spend a lifetime trying to find a film you like.
I’ve tried to list the most popular Shawano films and give you my list of favourite Shawano pictures to watch.

Shonen no Shira (1999) A woman goes to a bar for drinks and has a bad night out.
She meets a man and starts dating him.
The couple is married and live together, and soon the man starts talking about her, making it clear that he wants her.

Toshi no Kano (1999, TV series) This Japanese drama series follows a woman named Shira as she goes on a quest for love, friendship, and love in the real world.
Shira must deal with her past, her past as a former employee of a law firm, and her past in Japan.
She learns a lot about herself, her family, and how the world works, as well as about love.

Saya no Shura (1999-2003) Kaito’s daughter is kidnapped by a mysterious woman.
She must go on a perilous journey to rescue her, as she also needs to save her family.

The Girl Who Knew Too Much (2000) I know, I know, you’ve heard of it, but it is a classic Shawano movie.
It is a romantic comedy, with the main character, Miyuki, being a woman.

Shoujo no Uta (2002) The titular Shouko is a young woman who has been given a chance to go on an adventure, but she has no intention of going, despite her parents’ warnings.

The Woman in the Sea (2002, TV Series) In this one, Miyuko’s best friend, the woman in the sea, decides to follow in her footsteps, and becomes a woman herself.

Shirobako no Yoru ni (2002-2006) Shirobaku, a young girl who has no money and has no job, is forced to live on her own for a month.
She struggles to survive and falls in love with a young man, who also has no income.

The Man Who Would Die for You (2002; TV Series, Movie) At first glance, Shiro, a Japanese boy, is not a typical Shouwa, but in truth, he is.
He has a love for animals and a desire to be an adventurer.

Hidari no Kami (2003)This is a remake of the 1970s TV show, Hidai no Kata, with two Japanese girls.
They meet each other in a hotel and fall in love.
They fall in Love and then have a Baby, but the baby is killed.
The movie also tells the story of Shiro’s childhood and the events leading up to his marriage to a young Japanese woman.

Nana no Kishi (2003, TV Show)This Japanese animated TV show follows a young boy named Kazuki as he goes on his quest for a princess, and a girl named Nana, who is a friend of Kazuki’s.
Nane is a girl who loves Kazuki, but Kazuki has a problem with Nana.

Utsukami no Kyojin (2003-2006, TV Special)This story follows a group of people who are living in a haunted house.

Nyan Kishi no Iruchi (2003 )A group of girls go on vacation to a magical island.
